We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time School Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing nutritious and delicious meals for students, creating a positive dining experience, and maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a school setting and is committed to promoting healthy eating habits among students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and prepare nutritious meals for students in accordance with school guidelines and dietary requirements.
  2. Collaborate with school staff to create a diverse and appealing menu that meets the nutritional needs of students.
  3. Ensure all meals are prepared and served on time, maintaining high-quality standards.
  4. Monitor food inventory, place orders for supplies, and manage kitchen budget effectively.
  5. Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workspace.
  6. Accommodate special dietary needs and allergies, providing alternative menu options as required.
  7. Foster a positive and welcoming dining atmosphere for students and staff.
  8. Collaborate with school administrators to implement and update menu plans based on feedback and nutritional guidelines.
  9. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  2. Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and meal planning.
  3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  6. Understanding of dietary restrictions and ability to accommodate special dietary needs.
  7. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and appliances.
  8. Current food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one.
  9. Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and accommodate special events.
  10. Passion for promoting healthy eating habits among students.

Schedule: This is a part-time position with 20 hours per week, during school hours.

Salary: £11.95 - £12.42

Hours: Part-time (9.30am – 1.30pm Mon – Fri)
