Business Introduction:

Seymour John have been retained as Executive Search partners by Morland to secure a Sales & Marketing Director. Morland is a £30m turnover division of Interior Products Group, a third-generation owner-managed business, whose sister division Newmor Wallcoverings is turning over approximately £12m. Since 1972, their prefinished fit-out products have been manufactured and sold under the Morlandname. Their integrated modern manufacturing divisions produce interior panels, architectural profiles, patented fire doors and a range of 'prefit’ products designed to reduce the need for on-site finishing. These products are sold into UK leisure industry (e.g. motorhome, caravan and yacht manufacturers), the UK construction sector, and via a rapidly growing E-commerce channel to customers worldwide. The business has positioned itself well for further growth, including with the establishment of Morland B.V. in Rotterdam, and is seeking a senior sales, marketing and people-leader who can maximise the opportunities for Morland and their customers together.

The Opportunity:

Reporting into the Owner/Group Managing Director you will lead the Sales, Marketing, E-Commerce, and Customer Services team for the Morland division. We hope you can motivate and develop this team to target and achieve even greater success.

  • Team leadership and motivation: Lead, manage and motivate the Sales & Marketing Team to achieve the best results possible.
  • Account management: Take a personal interest in growing existing customer account spend on the biggest accounts.
  • Growing sales: particularly E-Commerce and Construction where the biggest growth opportunities exist, but also not taking your eye off the ball of Leisure which generates £14m annually.
  • End to end communication and problem solving throughout the business to align strategy, operations and minds with Morland’s approach and promise to servicing customers and sales ambitions. It’s often challenging to align manufacturing capacity perfect to customer wants and that requires a great communicator who can work with colleague across the business functions to come up with the best solutions as a team.
  • Senior Leadership Team member and Colleague: We are looking for a genuine team player to support, advise, solve problems, and create and drive strategy together.
  • Overseas travel to develop the European market which represents a big opportunity - expected foreign travel - once every two months.

Who are we looking for?

A proven, highly successful Sales & Marketing Director who understands the culture and resources of a mid-size owner-managed business.

An excellent track record in inspiring, coaching, mentoring, and managing teams to achieve greater success together.

Considerable experience in at least one of the sales channels of Construction, Leisure and/or E-Commerce.

A provable record in driving substantial sales growth and overcoming the challenges presented along the way, working cohesively across the whole business.

We are looking for a long term appointment so evidencing your perseverance and loyalty when in the right environment is important.

You will need to be happy providing access to credible referees in due course, who can support the track record and qualities requested above.
