The Company

Our client is a market leader in their engineering field. To help sustain this and grow the business they are looking for a Sales Manager.

The Role

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and growing sales from existing customers whilst also expanding into new markets and increasing sales volume.
  • This role is a hands-on sales management position focused on delivering the highest levels of service to their customers.
  • Responsible for developing and delivering the company’s short and long-term sales strategy to ensure consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues in both UK and European markets.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of sales, promotions, and distribution of all company products and services.
  • Identify and exploit key target markets.
  • Manage pricing strategy for products, enhancing profitability and providing market competitive pricing.
  • Responsible for ensuring structures and procedures are in place to maximise sales and profitability.
  • Compile and analyse sales figures and data.
  • Produce annual budgets and short-to long-term forecasts.
  • Coordinate sales activity to expand the company’s sales pipeline, ensuring effective sales and operational planning is in place, which enhances business financial forecasting.
  • Manage and motivate the sales and customer service teams to ensure all existing and new customers have a fantastic experience.
  • Develop and implement sales KPIs and drive team goals to ensure strategic growth targets are met.
  • Interface with customers, as well as engineering and manufacturing to develop products that meet customers’ current and future needs.
  • Support the marketing team with marketing campaigns designed to raise brand awareness and champion new products.
  • Become the prime voice of the customer to drive the company to provide best in class customer experience.
  • Produce and manage an annual and quarterly sales plan and deploy the necessary activities to position the business as the number one in their sector.

The Person

  • Experience of working in a manufacturing / engineering environment is essential.
  • Previous experience of delivering sales strategies in the UK and Europe.
  • Proven B2B sales experience with a solid record of achieving sales targets.
  • Key account management skills and the ability to develop business growth.
  • Experience of developing and delivering product pricing strategies.
  • Contract negotiation and management.
  • Experience of competitor analysis, identifying trends and implementing strategic sales plans.
  • Strong commercial business acumen.
  • Experience in managing a customer service and sales team.
  • Ambitious and outgoing, highly organised with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to motive and lead sales team to deliver against results.
  • Able to demonstrate the qualities and tactics required to coach and manage the pipeline.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable negotiating at all business levels.
  • Budgeting and reporting skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Able to prioritise and work calmly under pressure.
  • Regular UK and Europe wide travel required.
