We’re Hiring: Sales Ledger Clerk

  • Compensation: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour

The role of a Sales Ledger Clerk is crucial in managing a company’s financial transactions related to sales. Let’s delve into the specifics of this position:

  1. Responsibilities:

    • Setting Up New Clients: As a Sales Ledger Clerk, you’ll create records for new clients in the system.
    • Producing Invoices: You’ll generate invoices for goods or services provided by the company.
    • Banking and Reconciliation: Handling payments received, ensuring they match the invoices, and reconciling accounts.
    • Running Turnover Statements: Regularly preparing statements summarizing sales turnover.
    • Chasing Outstanding Debts: This involves contacting customers to collect overdue payments.
    • Handling Rebates and Filing: Managing any rebates and maintaining organized records.
    • Checking VAT Inclusion: Ensuring that Value Added Tax (VAT) is correctly included on invoices.
    • Providing Creditors with VAT Receipts: Furnishing necessary documentation to creditors.
  2. Working Hours:

    • Sales Ledger Clerks typically work regular office hours, Monday to Friday. However, part-time and flexible options are also available.
  3. Career Progression:

    • With experience, Sales Ledger Clerks can advance to roles such as supervisor, manager, credit controller, or even financial controller.
  4. Qualifications and Skills:

    • No specific entry requirements, but employers often expect a minimum of five GCSEs (including math and English).
    • Strong IT skills, including familiarity with financial accounting software (e.g., Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, Excel).
    • Consider enrolling with the Association of Accounting Technicians for additional training.
