Sales Engineer - Estimating Engineer

Salary negotiable depending on experience but in the region of £35k-£45k+

Full Time / Permanent

Are you an experienced Sales / Estimating Engineer with CNC Machining knowledge, who can produce quotations to deadlines, successfully plan machining operation sequences and understand and identify efficient machining methods.

Our client is a long-established, reputable engineering company based near Luton, which has a family feel and a personable culture.

They specialise in the manufacture of components for various sectors including Aerospace, F1, Oil & Gas and Defense industries.

They are looking for a Sales Engineer - Estimating Engineer with CNC Machining knowledge, to jointheir Sales team on a full time, permanent basiswho can plan precision machining operations, produce quotations to deadlines and understand and identify the best methods of manufacture.

You will be responsible for providing technical estimates for incoming work, liaising closely with customers, suppliers, and our production team, to ensure accurate estimates are provided.

You will be in a crucial role within a growing sales team.

This would suit an experienced estimator, or previously experienced CNC machinist, who is looking for a new challenge in an office environment who apply their excellent IT skills and experience into a customer focused role.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review and reply to Customer RFQ’s and their engineering drawings.
  • Create timely and accurate estimates and quotations from customer enquiries which meet customer expectations and service standards.
  • Processing customer enquiries through our quotation process.
  • Liaising with customers over the phone and via email, regarding technical and non-technical questions, providing a client-centric service.
  • Producing quotations to deadlines - estimating all machining, materials, and inspection times for in-house elements and incorporate externally sourced elements such as sub-contract when applicable.
  • Understand and identify machining methods of manufacture and select accurate cycle times (CNC Turning & Boring experience a distinct advantage)
  • Reading and interpreting Engineering Drawings and creating accurate process plans.
  • Liaise with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Source supplier / subcontractor quotations, developing new and existing supplier relationships.

Experience Required

  • Extensive experience within precision engineering is required with extensive knowledge of machine capabilities / machining practices.
  • Ability to read and translate technical drawings is essential.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is key to success.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • An excellent working knowledge of the mechanical engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal, communicative, listening, and negotiation skills.
  • A pride in your work and a keen interest in the company’s resulting performance.
  • Commitment and drive to enhance the performance of the business.
  • Ability to use own initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Resilience when working to fixed deadlines.

Package and Benefits:

  • The hours are:

Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am - 2.30pm but extra hours may be required if required to fulfil your duties.
