The Position

As a Sales Assistant, you will ensure the high service and satisfaction of national and international customers. You will be the interface between customers and other internal departments. Execution of the company best practices, effective daily interactions with customers and sales management team will be key to assuring smooth operations.

The position is based at our SPF (United Kingdom) Ltd, Doncaster site. This is a full time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, reporting to the Sales Manager.

Responsibilities

As a Sales Assistant your duties and responsibilities will vary based on the Company’s requirements but will include:

  • Be the first point of contact for the customers and be able to create a positive relationship with them.
  • Manage sales orders on the Nav system and correspond with customers to confirm this has been actioned.
  • Invoice customers and chase outstanding invoices in link with the Sales Managers.
  • Complete any paperwork linked to a customer order (CoA, pick list, dispatch sheets).
  • Communicate with customers on deliveries of finished products and collection of empty IBC’s in coordination with the Production Assistant.
  • Apply for health certificates and deal with veterinarian services for exports.
  • Keep all customs brokers and, when necessary, SPF subsidiaries updated with upcoming exports.  
  • Maintain customer database, pricing and customer case history up to date.
  • Escalate relevant customer information and/or issues to the Sales Managers to assure a high level of reactivity and problem resolution.
  • Keep the Sales Manager updated with weekly reports on agreed KPI’s.
  • Arrange samples to be sent to customers.
  • Register any claims from customers (quality, logistics, accounting) and coordinate the answer with the Sales Manager.
  • Interface with the different departments (production, quality, supply and logistics).

Internally, you will be in contact with the Sales Managers based abroad, the Production Supervisor, the Quality Supervisor and the sales assistants based in the other EU subsidiaries.

Externally, you will be required to interact daily with customers, veterinary services, customs brokers.

Requirements

  • 2-3 plus years of sales, customer service, export service or related experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Attention to detail, strong follow-up skills and proven ability to produce quality work.
  • Having previous experience of working in the feed industry / factory location would be advantageous.
  • A-Level C & above (English & Maths) or equivalent
