Rural Surveyor

We are looking for a Rural Surveyor to join us, managing our diverse let estate portfolio across Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Supporting the Estate Managers, you will mainly be looking after the West Oxfordshire portfolio and the Thames Valley and Cliveden portfolios . Joining our team, you’ll take on interesting rural surveying work that will help us to deliver sustainable land and property management, for everyone, for ever. 

This role provides the opportunity for the rural surveyor to work over a number of locations, with the focus being predominantly across the West Oxfordshire portfolio which includes one of the largest let estates in the National Trust at Buscot & Coleshill. 

Your contractual place of work can be either Hughenden Manor or the Coleshill Estate Office. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

Due to the travel required for this role, you must hold a full driving license with access to your own vehicle, business mileage claimable through expenses.

We are offering a salary circa £42,000 per annum. 

From working closely with our farm tenants to deliver nature across our agricultural land, to negotiating commercial leases, negotiating easements and managing common land, no two days are the same. In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, you’ll have the chance to deliver a variety of projects, offering your advice beyond your team. Reporting into an Estate Manager, you will be part of a very busy and highly professional team consisting of Estate Managers, Rural Surveyors, a Building Surveyor, Building Supervisors, Letting Officer and Estate Management Officers. •a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors 

•a highly motivated individual, with a passion for conservation and nature

•good knowledge of land use, agriculture, asset management and land management

•good working knowledge and experience in environmental issues, conservation, sustainable development and approaches to regenerative farming and nature base solutions

•proven ability to analyse, interpret and resolve rural surveying problems and legal documentation using your findings to influence decision making and negotiation 

•strong demonstrable consulting skills: listening, building trust and acting to deliver a high-quality service

•an appetite for learning and personal development
