Rural Housing Enabler- £33,395.00 -Wellesbourne, Warwickshire (Own transport is essential for this role)

The Role

Do you possess previous experience supporting rural communities? Are you able to lead initiatives that address the pressing need for affordable rural housing? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are a registered charity with a mission to tackle disadvantage in rural Warwickshire communities, looking to appoint an empathetic and pro-active Rural Housing Enabler to our growing team.

You will be pivotal in increasing the supply of affordable rural housing across Rugby and North Warwickshire. You'll collaborate with various stakeholders, including Parish Councils, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, and the private sector, to form innovative partnerships committed to delivering affordable housing solutions. Securing new sources of funding for the role and support for the provision of local housing in rural areas is equally important.

Own transport is essential as travel will be required across Warwickshire, including evening parish council meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with parish and local authority councils to assess housing needs by carrying out housing need surveys.
  • Analysing data received, preparing reports and presenting to the parish council and associated communities.
  • Work with local authorities to provide information that will inform local housing strategies.

  • Liaising with local authorities and rural communities.
  • Providing information and advice to parishes on housing and planning policies, housing need and proposals for housing projects through e-bulletins, meetings and public consultations.
  • Meet rural housing needs within parishes as identified through local housing needs surveys.
  • Work with local landowners, Parish and District Councils, partner Housing Associations, and local communities to identify and bring forward suitable sites (particularly exception sites) to meet the identified needs.
  • Work with local partners, including architects, to develop appropriate designs for new affordable parish developments.

The Person

  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment with competing demands and priorities.
  • Experience of some aspect of delivery of affordable housing.
  • Experience of working in a leadership and supporting role with rural communities.
  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) & ability to use social media.
  • The ability to present to a group and gain commitment to action.
  • The ability to motivate community champions to empower their communities.
  • The ability to produce clear and engaging reports and other written work.
  • The ability to work to deadlines.
