This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful oversubscribed school. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking, conscientious and energetic classroom practitioner who is passionate about Maths to join a supportive and well-resourced maths department. You will be part of a team which enforces high standards of behaviour and pushes students to achieve their very best.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a love for mathematics and a commitment to making a difference to the young people of St Helens and surrounding areas.

The high school and Sixth Form College has approximately 1500 students of which 250 are in the Sixth Form.


The school is a warm, caring and vibrant community and an exciting place to work - there is always something happening here in the college, whether that be dance shows, sporting events, clubs or special guest talks.

The school and sixth form was graded as 'Good' by Ofsted in November 2021.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS:

  • Location -St Helens
  • Position - Maths Teacher (KS3/4), KS5 (ideally, but not essential for most schools)
  • Type of work - Teaching
  • Start date -Easter 2024
  • Likely Duration - ongoing
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Full time
  • Minimum rate of pay - from £140 per day
  • Hours - 8:15am - 4pm

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree educated with a good classification, preferably in Mathematics (however, it is not essential that it is Maths related)
  • Secondary QTS (PGCE, SCITT, B.Ed, QTS, etc) in Maths
  • Previous experience working with young people (which we can reference)
  • Experience of teaching in a Secondary School (which we can reference)
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, we can provide the training)
  • Up to date Prevent awareness training issued in the last 3 years (essential, again, we can provide the training)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application at a cost of £45.80
  • Provide a minimum of two professional references
