Pyramid8 is delighted to be supporting a non-for-profit organisation based in Pontefract. The nursery strives to put the wellbeing of their employees at the heart of what they do, and as a non-for-profit organisation, they have the freedom to make decision based on what’s "right" for the Nursery, rather than what will make the most profit.

Responsibilities as a Room Leader:

  • To lead the planning of a programme of activities in the area where you are room leader.
  • To ensure the experiences provided for children support the curriculum and ethos of the nursery,
  • Work alongside parents to give full integration in the nursery in line with the child’s needs.
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
  • To support volunteers in the setting and encourage their professional development.
  • Deploy staff with the room base to ensure staff ratios are maintained.
  • Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
  • To be flexible within the working practices of nursery, to include undertaking certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, etc.
  • Work alongside the manager as part of the senior team to ensure that the philosophy behind the Pomfret Woodland Community Nursery is fulfilled.
  • Look upon the nursery as a 'whole’, be constantly aware of the needs of all children.
  • To develop reflective practice and be open to personal and professional development.
  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development.
  • To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing and meet the needs of individual children.
  • To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times.

Experience required:

  • Minimum of a Level 3 in a recognised childcare field, that is deemed relevant by the DFE and Ofsted
  • GSCE in English and Maths or equivalent
  • EYP status or Early Years Educator [desirable]
  • Basic food hygiene
  • Paediatric first aid
  • Level 1 safeguarding
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a qualified nursery practitioner.

In return you will receive an hourly rate of £13.30, plus £500 bonus on 6 month service and £500 on 12 month service. Working Monday to Friday 35 hours per week.
