Robot & Automation Engineer

Robot & Automation Engineer required to join a successful & expanding engineering company based in central Bedfordshire, that supply assembly systems & tooling to the automotive industry including some of the sector's most prestigious car manufacturers.

This is an interesting and varied position, which will involve; hands-on robot programming, co-ordination of robot programming activities, working on process planning of existing contracts, providing process engineering support for new business quote proposals, liaising with like-minded customer and supplier engineers to develop and integrate robot control interface to client specification and assist in the development and training of junior and apprentice engineers.

Robot & Automation Engineer Position Overview

• Robot programming (predominantly ABB Robots)
• Interfacing robot controls with ancillary equipment
• Using robot simulation packages (Robot Studio/Motosim EG)
• Designing, programming, testing, and implementing systems for all robotic machines
• Serving as project lead for new robotic installations
• Training of operators to operate robotic cells effectively and efficiently
• Travelling to customer facilities to assist with installation of robotics and ancillaries to
• The point of customer sign-off/approval

Robot & Automation Engineer Position Requirements

• Exceptional knowledge of CAD/CAM software
• Experience within the automotive sector
• Ability to travel independently to customer and supplier facilities
• Good understanding/experience of PLC controlled systems
• Knowledge of cost, efficiency, and productivity optimisation methods
• Ability to develop and evaluate integrated systems
• An analytical mind
• Resourcefulness
• Outstanding communication skills
• Degree in engineering, computer science or similar field

Robot & Automation Engineer Position Remuneration

• Permanent position, based on 40hrs per week
• Salary based on experience, knowledge, and competence.
• Access to the company contribution pension scheme
• 22 days annual holiday, rising 1 day per year, up to a maximum 25 days per annum.
