Job Description:
teach195. are working with a fantastic Secondary School in Oldham, seeking a passionate and dedicated Religious Education (RE) Teacher to start a role in a September role at the school. As an RE Teacher, you will inspire students to explore diverse religious beliefs, ethical values, and philosophical ideas, fostering understanding, empathy, and respect for different worldviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and thought-provoking RE lessons, covering a range of religious traditions, ethical dilemmas, and philosophical concepts.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, engage in critical thinking, and express their own beliefs and perspectives in a respectful manner.
- Introduce students to a variety of religious texts, teachings, and practices, promoting an appreciation for the richness and diversity of religious traditions and their impact on individuals and societies.
- Facilitate discussions and debates on ethical issues, moral dilemmas, and contemporary issues from a religious and philosophical perspective, encouraging students to consider different viewpoints and develop their own informed opinions.
- Foster an ethos of tolerance, acceptance, and mutual respect, promoting dialogue and understanding among students from different religious and cultural backgrounds.
- Assess student progress through various methods of feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing the teaching and learning of RE across the school.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, specialising in Religious Education or a related field.
- Relevant degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching RE at the secondary level is preferred.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for religious and philosophical education.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting empathy, respect, and open-mindedness.
- Willingness to contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, assemblies, and events.
