I am currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual who has a claims/insurance background to come and join the team as a Reinsurance Claims Technician. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to learn and grow their career within Reinsurance Claims at a time where the business is rebuilding and growing.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to Senior Claims Advocates and Claims Manager as and when required.
  • Managing own workload and time, to maximise efficiency and ensure that deadlines and targets are met
  • Undertaking ongoing communication with claims colleagues, accounts and other Divisions to ensure timely & accurate production of documentation & maintenance of systems and records

Operational:

  • Overseeing and completing production of new claims files and ensuring they are complete in line with defined standards
  • On receipt of claim notification, identify risk, review details in conjunction with coverage/wording afforded, acknowledge to client/intermediary, prepare claims file accurately and promptly and maintain in-house and external computerised claims records
  • Reviewing and assessing claims anticipating any potential issues/queries and deciding on action required
  • Reviewing claims received and providing feedback to placing Brokers / management where required to minimise future issues arising
  • Highlighting any potential issues to management prior to going to Underwriters
  • Producing claims information and presenting to reinsurers, either in written or networked format such as CLASS or LORS and dealing with any resultant instructions, queries and/or enquiries
  • Monitoring reinsurers’ agreement and payment of funds and ensuring that payment is made to the appropriate beneficiary in good time
  • Ensuring effective liaison with Accounting colleagues both in respect of collection/payment of funds, any queries and the subsequent clearance of accounting entries
  • Identifying any potential errors and omissions if situations arise
  • Reporting any claims difficulties immediately to management
  • Ensuring relevant insurer’s instructions are notified to Client/Principle
  • Timely and efficient problem resolution using broad experience gained
  • Building meaningful relationships with Clients, experts and insurers by dealing with them in a prompt, friendly and professional manner at all times
  • Maintaining claims filing
  • Monitoring workload and reporting to management as appropriate
  • Producing accurate and quality correspondence, filtering information to ensure of most relevance to receiver
  • Providing regular feedback to Claims Manager on portfolio of claims, current status and market conditions and their possible implications
  • Attending internal / client meetings as appropriate
  • Ensuring compliance with FCA Guidelines and Group rules and procedures, including maintaining accurate records

Relationship Management:

  • Continuing to develop and maintain relationships with peers and colleagues both within Division & across the Group
  • Continuing to develop and manage relationships with underwriters, adjusters, attorneys, clients, and industry peers
  • Actively participating in regular team discussions/updates

Generic Knowledge Requirements:

  • Sufficient knowledge and understanding of the general concepts of insurance to be able to perform the Principal Tasks
  • Good working knowledge of the Underwriters and markets; and their practices, documentation and customs
  • Good working knowledge of reinsurance class and other relevant insurance and regulatory procedures.
