Swift Placements are working with a housing association who are looking for 2x Regional Housing Officers to join their new set up in Preston on a full-time permanent basis, you will play a vital role in managing and overseeing housing operations within a designated region. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient allocation of housing resources, providing support to tenants, and maintaining high standards of property management. This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to improving housing conditions and community welfare.

Full time permanent position

Monday- Friday

Location: Preston

Salary: £25,000- £30,000 DOE!

Hours: 9:00- 5:00pm

20 days holidays+ 8 Bank Holidays

Fully office based.

Key Responsibilities:

Housing Allocation and Management:

  • Facilitating and submitting tenants Housing Benefit application online and obtaining a reference number.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and oversee maintenance activities.
  • Manage rent collection, arrears, and tenancy agreements.
  • Respond to tenant inquiries and resolve housing-related issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with housing regulations, tenancy laws, and health and safety standards.
  • Informing tenants of their responsibility for paying charges at the checking in stage of a tenancy. E.g. Council Tax, personal area utilities, TV licence and personal insurance, ensuring that the tenant receives and signs the rights to rent pack confirming that they accept and understand the terms.
  • Deal promptly with cases of Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Make regular visits to new and existing properties to ensure they are well maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Monitor adherence to rental policies and procedures.
  • Implement initiatives to improve housing quality and tenant satisfaction.
  • Provide support and guidance to tenants on housing matters.
  • Provide advice and support to tenants with regard to neighbour disputes, harassment and any other housing related occupancy issues e.g. security - to include liaison with third party agencies where appropriate e.g. police, support staff, social services etc.
  • Address tenant concerns, complaints, and disputes effectively.
  • Develop and implement community engagement programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, housing associations, and community organizations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and external partners.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to housing operations.
  • Prepare reports on housing occupancy, maintenance, and financial performance.
  • Assist in budget planning and monitoring for housing-related activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Housing Management, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in housing management or related roles, ideally in a supervisory capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of housing regulations, tenancy laws, and property management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using housing management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation for travel within the designated region, including to visit people in their own home.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and occasionally attend meetings or events outside regular business hours.
  • Commitment to promoting fair housing practices and community development.
  • Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.
