This position is for a new 15 bed Supported Housing service opening at the end of May.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a trauma informed and recovery-based model within their specialist mental health accommodation. The post-holder will provide support to residents with complex needs including mental health, forensic, drug addiction, alcohol issues and physical health needs. They will be responsible for ensuring a high-quality service is delivered on a 24-hour basis. The post holder will take responsibility for supporting residents which is outcome focused and responds to the needs of residents.

The Role

The role will require some knowledge in mental health, and will work within the following areas:

  • The main purpose of the role is to lead shifts, and to support residents in meeting their needs.
  • Ensure a high quality, recovery based, trauma informed service is delivered on a 24-hour basis.
  • Where the service is registered with CQC to support the manager to ensure that all CQC regulations are upheld.
  • Provide a consistent approach to resident support.
  • Working in partnership with other agencies and their local communities.
  • Ensure effective systems to promote both safety and security are deployed.
  • Demonstrate a positive and objective attitude and behaviours in everyday practice.
  • Ensuring that key performance targets are met and that all resident records are up to date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a consistent approach to resident care and support.
  • Ensure that recovery and Trauma informed approach is effectively deployed.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day service running.
  • To support residents in developing everyday skills and gaining independence.
  • To deputise for Keyworkers when needed to ensure records are kept up to date.
  • Implement, delivery and review residents support plan and risk assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the team.
  • Establish effective, transparent and open lines of communication with care teams.
  • Actively engage in annual appraisals and competency assessments.
  • Manage and lead shifts as identified in shift leader protocol.
  • Ensuring compliance with HR processes including holidays/sickness absence etc.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting residents with complex mental health needs
  • First degree and/or diploma in health and social care
  • Reasonable standard of IT knowledge, Word and PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience of safeguarding and social care
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with colleagues, residents and other professionals.
