Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £34,470 - £42,000 (depending on experience)

What's A Day like in the life of a Radioactive Waste Team Leader?

As part of AWE Waste Services Group, you will manage and supervise all operational aspects associated with the collection, monitoring, storage, and dispatch of Solid Radioactive Wastes generated at the AWE Sites. You will supervise a team of operatives to deliver these services to the required standard, timeframe, and budget. Key aspects are effective planning, prioritisation and deconfliction to ensure optimal task and resource management whilst playing a vital role in keeping the site and staff members safe.

Successful Candidates will be responsible for:

  • The operational supervision of RA Waste services delivery in accordance with Company and legislative Security, Quality, Environmental, Safety and Health (SQESH) requirements.

  • Gaining and maintaining formal appointment as a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person to control and supervise operations involving nuclear material and industrial safety.

  • Delivery of RA Waste services activities in accordance with programmatic timescales, customer expectations, and budgetary limits.

  • Formally planning operations, prioritising tasks and de-confliction management.

  • Promoting and maintaining high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality.

  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste operations.

  • Experience of working with nuclear waste would be beneficial but is not essential.

  • A good understanding of Safety Case, Safe Operating Envelope and Operating Instructions.

  • Experience of leading or coaching others.

  • An awareness of health and safety and good working practice.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
