Our client, a leading digital radio station is the UK’s biggest live podcast network, producing uncensored talk-radio entertainment for Britain’s 17 million 18-34 year olds. Following exponential growth in its listening audience, the company is consolidating its position with the launch of a national DAB station. As part of this expansion, they are seeking an individual who has the experience and creativity to lead from the front in helping them become 'the voice of the next generation’.

The successful candidate will be working alongside a highly experienced CEO and relish the opportunity to build an entire programming schedule from the ground up. In doing so, their name will become synonymous with the creation of groundbreaking radio programming that defines the company and the sector for years to come.

Job Summary

• The role requires hands-on producing of new programming, as well managing a growing team of other production staff.

• You will be producing your own shows as well as overseeing the production of others.

• You will be responsible for hiring and managing production personnel, as well as overseeing all talent relationships.

• In a developing brief, the role covers full end to end workflow of shows, from initial ideation to social media marketing.

• Working closely with the sales department, social team, as well as the CEO, you’ll be responsible for developing new programming, actively identifying and approaching talent and ensuring that returning format series appeal to our audience and advertisers in equal measure.

• You’ll have an innate ability to identify and nurture emerging talent as well as ideate programming initiatives that have potential television and other cross format outcomes.

• You’ll be responsible for sourcing and developing new relationships with artists, agents, venues and any other key players in developing a new schedule of genre specific programming.

About You

• You’ll be currently working in radio or television as a development producer (that has radio production experience).

• You will have had hands on experience of recording location and studio video packages and be proficient in handling equipment for this type of work.

• You’ll be highly motivated and ready to lead a creative team as the company grows to become a national DAB station

• You will need to demonstrate that you have developed programming ideas in the past that have gone on to become smash hits.

• You will have a demonstrable commercial understanding of what makes a hit talkradio or podcast series.

• You’ll have experience of working with the commercial demands of sponsors and other key stakeholders.

• You will possess fantastic interpersonal skills and feel at ease around high profile celebrity entertainers and other public figures.

• You are calm under pressure and ensure that others follow your lead in a live broadcast environment.

• You’ll be adept at getting yourself in front of the right person to pitch a creative, mixed-media approach to the development of new programming.

• You will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of monetising programming and the importance of social media reach in building an audience.

• You will have an awareness of online celebrities and entertainment, as well as a keen interest in popular culture.

• You’ll have a positive attitude with a strong sense of fun and you’ll embrace working with a dynamic and energetic group of young creative people.

• You’ll relish the opportunity to quickly grow into your role and, as you deliver programming that delivers increasing audiences, you’ll enjoy the prospect of becoming a vital part of 'the voice of the next generation’.

The Package

• The role is based in London, though some home working is also possible. Minimum hours are 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, but you will be motivated to put in the hours necessary to achieve success.
