Design & Development Engineer - Medical Devices

Are you passionate about advancing medical technology and making a real impact on people's lives? Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Design & Development Engineer to contribute to their innovative and dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Design:

  • Conceptualize and develop detailed design plans for cutting-edge medical devices.
  • Engage in 2D and 3D mechanical design, PCB modeling, labeling, and cabling design.

Prototyping:

  • Execute the prototyping process, translating design concepts into physical prototypes.
  • Iterate designs based on feedback and results.

Production Support:

  • Undertake and supervise prototype and production builds.
  • Provide technical support for existing production processes.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, fostering effective communication.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about relevant regulations and standards in the medical device industry.

Testing and Validation:

  • Design and conduct thorough testing protocols to validate product performance.

Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Actively participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Problem Solving:

  • Address and resolve design challenges proactively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing medical devices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO) and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience with plastic manufacturing processes, including injection molding and 3D printing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Location: Woking, Surrey (Hybrid arrangement: Monday to Wednesday in the office, Thursday and Friday remotely).
