A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor on a major civil engineering project through a National Park in North West Wales. The Quantity Surveyor will quickly become an integral part of the project team, managing the costs & commercial delivery of the project which includes the construction of a tunnel and the replacement of their clients existing surface based assets over the next 5 years.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:
Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, monitoring expenditures throughout the project lifecycle, and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
Contract Management: Administer and manage construction contracts, including preparation, negotiation, and evaluation of contracts, as well as handling variations and claims.
Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to identify cost-saving opportunities and minimize cost overruns during the project.
Risk Analysis: Conduct risk assessments and identify potential risks and opportunities related to cost, procurement, and project delivery, and propose risk mitigation strategies.
Tendering and Procurement: Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and recommend suitable contractors and suppliers while ensuring compliance with procurement regulations.
Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to explore value engineering options and alternatives that optimize costs while maintaining project quality and performance.
Cost Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts, providing stakeholders with accurate financial information to support decision-making.
Change Management: Assess and manage changes to project scope, costs, and schedules, ensuring proper documentation and negotiation of variations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying, preferably on large infrastructure projects in the UK
  • NEC knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
