Actio Engineering recruitment are assisting one of our Ilminster based precision engineering client with their search for a Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • To lead the Quality team in the execution of the business strategy including:
  • Developing and continuous improvement of Quality activities in order to enhance manufacturing and business processes
  • Building the Quality team expertise to provide future rigor and effectiveness in the pursuit of business improvements
  • Provide the leadership to ensure that the Quality team has the capability and empowerment to achieve its objectives
  • Manage the implementation of Quality processes to ensure they are continually kept up to date
  • Manage and collate accurate product defect data (internal scrap) and provide weekly reports, working closely with the production teams to resolve these issues.
  • To develop and maintain visual cosmetic standards and provide training to all employees across the site
  • To ensure that any non-conforming products are identified at the earliest opportunity within the manufacturing process, preventing non-conforming products reaching the customer
  • To supervise the Quality team including Packing, Despatch, Warehouse & Final Inspection Team members
  • To manage staffing levels, authorise holidays and arrange overtime working
  • To deliver formal employee appraisals in line with company policies
  • To assess team members for skill, aptitude, capability and output and to deliver or arrange necessary training as and when required. To create and maintain training plans for all team members.
  • To set and monitor performance targets (KPI’s) for the department and for individual team members

Environmental, Health & Safety

  • To deliver the responsibilities set out in the Environment and H&S Policies and support others in delivering their responsibilities
  • To develop and deliver the Environmental and H&S plans, ensuring that integrated EH&S systems and policies are in place which support continuous improvement
  • To provide professional support, information and advice in all EH&S matters relating to the site
  • To work together with managers and supervisors in order to ensure that our EH&S systems, arrangements and practices are applied effectively, especially focusing on risk assessment support
  • To set up and manage the diary of EH&S arrangements
  • To maintain the ISO 14001 accreditation

Salary & Company info

  • £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
