Quality Engineer

Location - Sandwich, Kent

Salary - Highly competitive based on experience

Hours -7am - 4 pm Monday to Friday

Do you have experience in lean manufacturing?

The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the overall quality of a manufactured product is safe, reliable and meets customer expectations. They are also tasked with supporting the maintenance of processes so they are as efficient and cost-effective as possible whilst rectifying any potential issues.

The focus of the role will include the oversight of supplier quality, ensuring materials meet required standards and are processed as efficiently as possible. Supporting colleagues on all technical issues affecting quality and processes. Raising NCR reports, resolving problems, supporting process improvements, new product introduction and internal or supplier audits.

As the Quality Engineer, your responsibilities would include:

  • Monitor production processes to detect potential problems and malfunctions.
  • Engage in validating manufacturing and engineering processes, including providing on-the-job training.
  • Address quality concerns by employing structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis methods.
  • Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Oversee the calibration system and ensure consistent equipment calibration according to the schedule.
  • Assist in prototype, sample, and controlled product change builds across pre-production and production cells.
  • Conduct internal audits of products and systems, fulfilling responsibilities as an internal auditor as needed.
  • Assist supplier quality engineers or inspectors during periods of high workload or absence.

Quality Engineer Person Specification:

  • ISO 9001 understanding and sound knowledge base of requirements in terms of internal auditing
  • HND/HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Full current driving licence and passport required
  • Quality assurance, manufacturing, and testing experience
  • Use of 8D, 5 Why problem-solving techniques
  • Supplier, process, and system auditing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Solution focused
  • Flexible
  • Positive 'can do’ attitude
