JOB: Quality Engineer - In-Process Inspection

LOCATION: Cockermouth, Cumbria

STATUS: Permanent

SALARY: up to £45k

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Working times: Monday to Thursday 08.45am - 5.00pm and Fridays 08.45am - 12.45pm/3.30pm (alternate weeks) with a 45 minute unpaid lunch each day except on the early Friday finish

Holidays: 25 days per full year plus Bank Holidays

Pension: Enrolment at standard is 5% for employee and 4% for employer

My client is seeking a permanent in-process inspection professional.

My client is looking for a great Quality professional who wishes to transition into a more senior role.

The key purpose of this role is to be the voice of the in-process inspection team and lead the implementation of quality control processes, standards, training and continuous improvement within the in-process inspection team.

Reporting directly to the Site Quality Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and maintaining the integrity and safety of all the manufactured products.

You will be working with the Quality Manager to develop and lead a comprehensive Quality Control Strategy aligned with standards, systems, processes and regulations.

You will establish clear quality objectives and KPI's to measure and improve overall product quality.

You will identify areas for process improvement within the manufacturing quality controls system in line with operational excellence business strategy.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives and optimise quality control processes.

You will ensure compliance in line with site quality standards, specifications and regulations and you will be conducting regular audits and assessments to verify adherence to quality management systems and initiate corrective actions as necessary.

It is essential that you are an approved auditor to ISO9001.

You will lead and manage a team of quality control professionals, providing guidance and training and identifying development opportunities.

You will promote a proactive approach to quality control and nurture a culture of consciousness and accountability within the team.

You will maintain accurate and organised quality documentation which will include inspection reports, non-conformance reports and other relevant records.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Extensive knowledge in Quality Control and Inspection Standards
  • Self motivated - with an ability to motivate your team
  • Great communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of managing people, performance and processes
  • Lean and Six Sigma, Green Belt or higher
  • Relevant Quality or Manufacturing qualifications
  • Approved Auditor to ISO9001
