**Role Overview:**
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Assurance & Responsible Retailing (QARR) Controller to join a Leading Retailer based in North West London. As the QARR Controller, you will lead the Quality Assurance function for the national brand portfolio. This role involves spearheading the development and continuation of QA operations, ensuring compliance with food legislation, and implementing responsible retailing practices.

**Qualifications and Experience:**
**Essential:**
  • Relevant food science degree and/or technical qualifications.
  • Previous experience leading a QA function and managing teams.
  • Experience within the food & drink industry, particularly ambient, chilled, frozen products.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and influence within a matrix organization.
  • Effective management of the impact of food legislation on products.
**Desirable:**
  • Retailer experience.
  • Experience with other product categories such as household or OTC medical.
  • Background in managing and developing an ethical trading agenda.
**Technical Skills:**
  • Developing and managing effective QA processes.
  • QA approval of new suppliers.
  • QA development of new products.
  • Ensuring food safety of new products/ranges.
  • Monitoring product quality for the range on sale.
  • Handling complaints/quality issues.
  • Dealing with enforcement authorities (EHO, TS, FSA).
  • Crisis management process maintenance and training.
  • Monitoring standards at supplying/manufacturing sites.
  • Interpreting and implementing new legislation affecting products.
  • Producing and managing new QA policies (brand standards).
  • Understanding responsible sourcing/ethical trading landscape for relevance to the company.
**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Develop and refine effective QA processes for the national brand, collaborating with product development and specifications management teams.
  • Forge strong relationships with internal Central Office, regional wholesale, and International QA and Responsible Retailing teams.
  • Champion nationally agreed standards of compliance and operational practices.
  • Uphold adherence to nationally agreed UK policies.
  • Oversee the timely approval of new suppliers for quality assurance and responsible sourcing.
  • Ensure compliance of new and existing suppliers with agreed quality standards, managing internal audits and supplier communications.
  • Manage product complaints and supplier quality issues efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain an effective crisis management process.
  • Act as the national authority on food and packaging legislative changes, guiding their application within the Brand team.
  • Manage responsible sourcing/ethical trading on SEDEX for National brand suppliers, mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Represent company at external stakeholder meetings related to Quality, food safety, legislation, and responsible retailing.
  • Develop and execute Responsible Retailing strategy and plans.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the QARR team members.
