About the role

Here at Kerry, we're currently seeking a knowledgable and proactive Quality Assurance Hygiene and Sanitation Lead onsite in Portadown. Northern Ireland.

The successful candidate will uphold and oversee the management of the site hygiene, positive release and departmental SAP programs to ensure all finished products meet Site, Kerry Global standards and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility is compliant with customer and governmental requirements for cleanliness while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Assure dispatch of testing samples to agreed laboratories within the agreed timeframe.
  • Verification of results against the agreed specification, informing the Technical Manager of non-conforming products and conducting investigations as necessary ensuring close out and actions in place.
  • Maintain Site Positive Release program for all finished goods to supply chain.
  • Reporting of Microbiological non-conformances on internal systems.
  • Reporting of cleaning metrics and all out of specification results, completion of root cause analysis & close out of all corrective action plans.
  • Weekly/Monthly Reporting of all microbiological, chemical, and quality sample results.
  • Analysing microbiological trends and developing improvement plans.
  • Liaise with external laboratories to ensure site requirements are met.
  • Managing the environmental swabbing programme for equipment and personnel, ensuring corrective actions is closed out as and when necessary. 
  • Conduct in-house hygiene inspections and ensure all results/follow up actions are communicated.
  • Liaise with site cleaning contractor to assure site hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement master cleaning schedule and SSOPs, using both wet cleaning and dry-cleaning methods and tools.
  • Assist with new employee induction training and on-going operator training regarding quality and hygiene standards.
  • Provide support to Technical team for completion of scheduled tasks when required.
  • To assist on any other projects or procedures arising which improve quality on the site.

Qualifications and skills

What do I need to be successful? 

  • Diploma or higher in a Food Science /Microbiological related subject.
  • Sanitation or Quality related experience in FMCG operation under BRC standard.
  • Ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
  • Microbiological background or working knowledge.
  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools.

Desirable :

  • Experience in the validation and verification of hygiene programs.
  • Knowledge of the system for positive release of finished product.
  • Training qualification (FETAC or equivalent) eg. Train the Trainer.
  • Internal auditing qualification.
  • Experience using SAP system.
