Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) Specialist

Full Time Position

Monday - Friday

Hours: 0730 - 1700

Location - Ipswich Office and site attendance will be required. Travel will be expected to fulfil the business needs.

Salary / Package - £50k - 60k DOE

EPPH is hiring a QHSE Manager to join their team. Their main customers include many main contractors, government organisations, schools and hospital trusts. They are always happy to form new relationships and allow clients to experience a unique peace of mind and professional service.

They are prominently an M&E contractor who specialise in HVAC and renewables. Their core works are FM projects and maintenance related. They are currently looking at growth therefore now is a great time to consider joining them.

They have many core values and one of which is safety. Their safety record is excellent and we pride ourselves on safe methodical ways of working. There is always room for improvement and we are now looking to take our safety policy to the next level.

The Role:

Exciting opportunity to join their growing team in their HQ office located in Ipswich. They are looking for an experienced, enthusiast and highly motivated individual to become a Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental lead. The QSHE role is a key to support future growth and develop new and improved processes.

They are now tendering and delivering higher value works and concentrating on growth hence, bringing in house our own QSHE team.

This is an operational role and not an advisor. They are looking for an individual who is keen to work with staff at all levels, audit and work with the team to deliver solutions.

Key Responsibilities

HSE Program Development:

Develop, implement, and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential health, safety, and environmental risks in the workplace.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement control measures and corrective actions to mitigate identified risks.

Support with tenders and bids to further grow our business and gain further opportunities.

Regulatory Compliance:

Stay informed about relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and ensure organizational compliance.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and proactively update HSE policies and procedures accordingly.

Interface with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections, audits, and reporting as required.

Support with retention of accreditation and future applications such as ISO 9001 certification for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and ISO 27001 for information security.

Training and Education:

Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to increase awareness of health, safety, and environmental risks and promote adherence to policies and procedures.

Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors in implementing QSHE training initiatives and ensuring compliance with training requirements.

Incident Management and Investigation:

Lead or support investigations of health, safety, and environmental incidents, including near misses, injuries, and environmental spills.

Analyse root causes of incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Prepare incident reports and communicate findings to management and relevant stakeholders.

Emergency Preparedness and Response:

Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to address potential workplace emergencies, such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.

Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response procedures and ensure readiness to effectively respond to emergencies.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure QSHE performance and track progress towards goals.

Generate and analyse QSHE metrics and prepare reports for management review.

Identify trends and areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions to enhance HSE performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management, with a demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, environmental regulations, and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver HSE training programs and facilitate discussions on HSE topics.

  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HSE management software.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

They are looking for an individual with experience within a similar role who is able to work on their own initiative and lead on all QSHE related matters. The individual will be fully supported by the Senior Leadership Team.
