Purchasing Manager
SF Recruitment are recruiting for a Purchasing Manager for their client in Swadlincote. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well established business which is continuing to grow. It is a full time permanent role working Monday-Friday. The salary for this role will be between £40,000 and £50,000 depending upon experience.
The primary responsibility is to lead and coordinate all purchasing activities within the business. This will include management of the existing supplier base with long term improvement strategies to expand. The successful candidate will be required to lead the team ensuring production materials are secured on time, meeting quality and price levels.
Suitable candidates will have sound knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and be able to coach others on the roles and responsibilities of purchasing
Main duties:
- Oversee the development of the existing supplier base to improve their performance
- Develop long term agreements with suppliers
- Delivery of purchasing excellence programs that mitigate the impact of inflation
- Measure shortages preventing production orders being released on time
- Develop stocking policies which minimise the inventory
- Performance manage, develop, coach and lead the purchasing team
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental procedures and requirements
Essential skills
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Strong administration skills
- Strong IT skills specifically Excel, Access, Word
- Supplier audit trained
- Contract and negotiation skills
The client is looking for somebody who is highly organised and capable of working alone using initiative to make decisions. Suitable candidates will ideally have previous experience in a leadership role. A CIPS qualification or similar would be preferred.
