Butler Rose are delighted to be assisting a manufacturing business based in Newton Abbot on an exclusive basis, who have a current requirement for a Purchasing Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company in a newly created role, the position holder will be responsible for oversight and management of procurement, stock levels and supplier management, ensuring that the company always has sufficient stock to fulfil customer orders, meet manufacturing requirements and drive cost savings and efficiencies through proactive management of the supply chain process.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful and expanding business who have big plans for future growth. The Purchasing Manager's role is also expected to develop alongside the businesses plans, with further responsibility and seniority awarded when milestones are reached.

Duties include:

  • Develop and implement a strategic and highly proactive approach to procurement.
  • Forecast levels of demand for components and products.
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels, production plans and customer orders to ensure appropriate levels to meet business requirements.
  • Proactively negotiate and agree prices, produce purchase orders and place orders with suppliers, then follow up to ensure timely delivery.
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best components and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Monitor the quality of service and delivery times provided.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers.
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
  • Develop new processes and strategies to make sure that business targets are met.
  • Undertake value for money reviews of existing suppliers and arrangements.
  • Produce reports on spending and saving.
  • Attend exhibitions and trade shows as required.

To be chosen for the role you must possess the following skills/experience:

  • Previous experience in procurement/purchasing management is essential.
  • Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience dealing in EMEA and APAC regions.
  • Experience with ERP systems is desirable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills - handling multiple and varied deadlines concurrently.
  • Organised, proactive, reliable and motivated.
  • Collaborative and friendly approach.
  • Works well as part of a wider team in an open plan environment.
  • Travel, both UK and international, will be required.

Package

  • Salary of £40,000 + further benefits package including profit share scheme
  • Full time Monday to Friday role
