Purchasing Manager
Kidderminster
£40,000 - £55,000 D.O.E

Summary of Job:
This role requires a highly motivated and experienced individual with a proven track record in manufacturing and engineering procurement. The ideal candidate will have a success in procurement, strong negotiation skills, deep understanding of the manufacturing and engineering landscape and expected to drive rapid change within the supply chain processes.
Duties and responsibilities:
•Oversee the purchasing process, including issuing purchase orders, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring timely receipt of materials and services
•Understanding technical requisitions and interpreting engineering documents
•Identify and implement process improvements for the overall procurement key function relating to Engineering, Production and Finance.
•Managing and mentoring a team of purchasing professionals and providing coaching to develop their skills
•Manage vendor performance including supplier development to support KPI achievements
•Responsible for determining liability, disposition and corrective action to be taken on supplier non-conformance report (NCRs)
•Perform cost analysis in conjunction with budget costs and make improvement recommendations
•Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills about the products, processes and share expertise with the team.
•Effective written and verbal communication with internal departments on financial, commercial, technical and quality issues.
•Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with other departments (e.g., engineering, production and finance)

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
•Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) including Maths & English
•Degree in supply chain management and/or CIPS desirable
•Minimum 8 years' experience in supply chain management
•Minimum 3 years' purchasing management experience
•Engineering technical knowledge desirable
•Knowledge of or proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) essential
•Proven track record of being accountable for procurement in a manufacturing environment
•Understanding and experience of the manufacturing lifecycle
•Experience of strategically liaising with stakeholders and implementing organisation goals

Hours of work
Office hours enable flexi-time working, covering a 37-hour week. Flexible start and finish times are available with core hours which must be covered each day. Monday to Thursday covers an 8-hour shift and Friday covers a 5-hour shift. Further details will be given at interview stage.
