The Role: As Purchasing and Hiring Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Estimating team, Project Managers and Directors, to ensure the smooth operations of the business. You will be responsible for the purchasing and hiring/off-hiring of plant and equipment, and coordinating materials for site-works

The Perks:

  • Salary - Negotiable depending on experience, circa £23K - £27K
  • Location: Meadowfield, Durham, free on site parking offered
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, office based, 9AM - 5PM, or 8:30AM - 4:30PM, some flexibility offered.
  • Enjoy 24 days of holidays per year, with three days reserved for the Christmas shutdown.
  • Your holiday entitlement increases with your length of service, reaching a maximum of 29 days.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing Excellence: Utilise your keen eye for detail to source top-quality plant, equipment, and materials for site works and office facilities, ensuring that our projects are equipped with the best resources available.
  • Efficient Hiring: Manage the hiring and off-hiring of all plant and equipment within specified timelines, job specific, guaranteeing that teams have access to the tools they need to succeed and complete site works in agreed timescales.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Working with national agreed suppliers, as well as sourcing new, under the direction of Estimator and Associate Director. Foster strong relationships with hire companies and suppliers, negotiating advantageous terms and optimising operational efficiency for the organisation.
  • Strategic Coordination: Keep the IMS & HR Coordinator informed of any new suppliers, ensuring they are added to the approved supplier register and contributing to streamlined procurement processes.
  • Order Management: Take charge of raising purchase orders with precision and accuracy, facilitating seamless transactions and contributing to the success of projects.
  • Team Support: Assist regional offices with hiring and purchasing activities as needed, showcasing your flexibility and commitment to team success.
