As they expand their procurement team, they are on the lookout for a passionate and detail orientated person to support the purchasing activity.

About the Role:
Join a dynamic team responsible for sourcing essential components and materials to support new product development and manufacturing processes. As a Purchasing Assistant you'll be pivotal in sourcing everything required for ongoing manufacturing and for bringing new products to life. Plus, you'll be instrumental in welcoming aboard new suppliers and ensuring compliance standards are met.

About you:
The ideal candidate should possess an eagerness to learn and develop skills, coupled with a keen attention to detail and an analytical mindset. Strong organisational skills are essential, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines effectively.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for successful collaboration within the team and with external stakeholders. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential to thrive in this role.

A minimum of 12 months experience in comparable roles. Previous experience in a purchasing or manufacturing environment is desirable.

Role Summary:

  • Generate purchase orders using the company’s ERP system to meet manufacturing demands.
  • Maintain accurate records, including supplier price lists and order acknowledgments.
  • Administer the supplier appraisal system, ensuring compliance and certification records are up to date.
  • Compile and analyse data to support purchasing decisions and reporting.
  • Support departmental and business strategies through efficient purchasing practices.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Place orders in accordance with Financial Regulations for inventory and non-inventory goods and services.
  • Maintain Planning Parameters for assigned areas.
  • Expedite overdue purchase orders and update ERP accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively with the Planning Team to resolve material availability issues.
  • Monitor open order book summaries and ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of aged open orders and take appropriate actions.
  • Actively maintain the supplier appraisal system, including onboarding new suppliers and updating records.
  • Extract and analyse data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide support within the Purchasing Team.
