Purchasing Assistant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and tenacious Purchasing Assistant to support our sales and operations teams, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of our supply chain. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining stock levels, raising purchase orders, and managing freight administration. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, competent, and can handle a fast-paced and pressured environment.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Raising purchase orders and sending them to suppliers.
  • Cross-checking order confirmations and tracking purchase orders.
  • Scheduling loads from suppliers and arranging load lists.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for enquiries, expediting, and supplier disputes.
  • Working with the Operations team to ensure products are received and stored correctly.
  • Monitoring stock levels and maintaining general purchasing administration.
  • Assisting the Purchasing Manager with lead time and supplier queries.
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure delivery timetables are met.
  • Booking containers and monitoring international shipments.
  • Generating customs paperwork and ensuring required customs information is correct.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to customs and transport procedures.
  • Ensuring competitive transport costs for individual shipments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to embrace a high-paced and pressured environment.
  • Strong planning and delivery skills, meeting customer needs.
  • Acting reliably and ethically, coping with setbacks, and making decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and problem solve.
  • Proficient IT skills, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, data-driven, and customer-focused business.
