Reed are working with a fantastic business who are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join their team and play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of supplies and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for detail and a solid grasp of procurement processes. This role is integral to maintaining their supply chain efficiency and overall operational success.
Day to day of the role:
- Monitor Stock Levels: Keep track of inventory to identify purchasing needs and ensure essential supplies are always in stock.
- Research Potential Vendors: Investigate suppliers, assessing quality, pricing, and reliability to select the best options.
- Track Orders: Oversee the order process from placement to delivery, ensuring items are received on time.
- Update Internal Databases: Use Microsoft Excel and Outlook to maintain accurate records of orders, including dates, vendors, quantities, and discounts.
- Conduct Market Research: Stay informed about market trends and identify opportunities for cost-effective purchasing.
- Evaluate Vendor Offers: Analyze vendor proposals, negotiate prices and terms to secure the best value.
- Prepare Cost Analyses: Generate cost analyses to guide informed purchasing decisions, balancing quality with cost.
- Maintain Records: Manage invoices, contracts, and other documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Business Apps, particularly MS Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with data entry and database management.
- Strong phone presence and experience with handling multiple calls per day.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time effectively.
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
