Contract - £350 - £400 PAYE

Location - Coventry

Role Overview:

  • We are looking for an ambitious Project Manager to report direct to the Project Director. The project is part of a Green Recovery Programme which is an ambitious programme of works to support the UK's green economic bounce back. The Programme is in the outline design phase with plans to move into detailed design phase April 23. The Programme is to reduce harm from storm overflows by reducing spills into the River Avon during the bathing season.

    It is a programme of six projects and is likely to involve the construction of seven sizable shafts within Finham (Coventry) sewage treatment works, a shaft at a sewage pumping station in Kenilworth. In addition, two shafts within the Coventry City network and an online storage solution in Coventry City Centre which will all have significant public and traffic interface.

    It will be a great opportunity for a Project Manager to be involved in the design and build of a project that will have significant benefit to the environment.

    * Manage, supervise, train and mentor the site teams to enable them to optimise their work contribution.
    * Review contractual agreements and develop working methods, programme and forecast costs with the Client, Contracts Manager and Specialist / Suppliers identifying any inaccuracies or inconsistencies.
    * Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity achieved and review weekly, taking action where appropriate, and reporting any changes to the Contracts Manager and Commercial department.
    * Be fully conversant with specialists' contract conditions.
    * Positively manage the programme to ensure the appropriate specialists provide the level of resources with the necessary skills so as not to impede the construction programme.
    * Communicate with the Contracts Manager, site team and the commercial team's issues of non-conformances and contractual correspondence. Ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
    * Ensure that a full and accurate daily site diary is kept, including any changes / variations, specialists attendance, and records of work related discussions with the HA / design team /site team.
    * Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works are reviewed, approved and adhered to.
    * Keep abreast of developments in professional field
    * Adherence to Costain policies and procedures
    * Supervising responsibility for site teams; liaison with internal and external stakeholders
    * Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Costain Health & Safety and Environmental Policies

  • Skills / qualifications:Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering, Understanding of Engineering Principles, Knowledge and Understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training., Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices., Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software)., Relevant CSCS Card, Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management, Current Driving Licence
