Job Opportunity: Parks Projects Manager

Are you passionate about enhancing green spaces and creating vibrant, sustainable communities? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Parks Projects Manager to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage a diverse portfolio of complex Open Space projects aligned with the Council's strategic objectives, including Open Space Strategy, Carbon Net Zero Action Plan, and Tree Management Strategy.
  2. Create robust business cases for park investments, conducting thorough research and analysis to support decision-making processes.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective greenspace management strategies, staying informed about policy changes and technological advancements.
  4. Implement strong project governance, managing cross-departmental teams and external consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.
  5. Oversee project budgets in compliance with financial regulations, providing timely and accurate financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Design procurement strategies and manage the procurement process for consultants and contractors, adhering to relevant legislation and regulations.
  7. Cultivate relationships with various stakeholders, including community groups, funding bodies, and residents, ensuring stakeholder engagement plans add value to project delivery.
  8. Lead project communications, collaborating with the Public Affairs team to promote projects through various media channels.
  9. Manage fundraising projects in coordination with parks management and grounds maintenance contractors.

Requirements:

  • Highly analytical and strategic thinker
  • Strong business development and commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in IT, particularly strong Excel skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Strong project management skills
  • Commitment to best practice and delivering value for money

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree level education or vocational equivalent
  • Relevant project management qualification or demonstrable project management experience
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management experience
  • Knowledge of parks management policies, legislation, and best practices
  • Familiarity with procurement regulations
