A growing and well established Engineering company based in South Bristol is currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager on a brand new position due to expansion. You will be joining a team of 3, reporting into the Head of Procurement. 

This role involves sourcing high-quality materials and components, negotiating with suppliers, and managing procurement processes to support our engineering and production teams efficiently. You will be responsible of end to end procurement of the electronics category with an annual spend of approx £2m.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet the company's standards for quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and prices with suppliers to ensure the best possible conditions for the company.
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals and project timelines.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to understand their material and component requirements.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies that could impact supply chain strategies.
  • Manage purchase orders, invoices, and delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of materials and components.
  • Address any supply chain issues promptly to minimise impact on production schedules.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of inventory management systems to optimize stock levels.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement department.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or similar role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain processes and dynamics.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
