Legal Director, Head of Private Client

• Location: Edinburgh
• Salary: Competitive, dependent on PQE level

We are currently recruiting a Legal Director to head up the Private Client department for a small and well-established client. The successful candidate will ideally be 10+ years PQE and would already be managing a private client team or would be looking to take that step up.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Prepare complex wills and handle the administration of high-value estates, including those with agricultural property, business interests, and assets located abroad.
• Line-management responsibilities for a small team of solicitors, paralegals, and support staff.
• Provide expert advice on all manner of trusts.
• Manage a diverse caseload with minimal supervision, ensuring an excellent service is delivered to clients.
• Actively participate in business development activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Ideally 10+ years PQE with experience in Wills, Trusts, Succession and IHT Planning and Power of Attorney’s.
• STEP Qualified.
• Able to handle a diverse caseload largely unsupervised.
• Proven ability to manage a private client team.
• Strong commitment to service excellence.
• Demonstrable experience in business development and a history of strong financial performance.
• Excellent prioritisation, communication, and IT skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage client expectations.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
