Location: Countywide. Flexible within London/East of England (preference for Essex) with regular visits to Chelmsford

The Role

As a Senior Landscape Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery and advancement of landscape services. This includes providing specialized planning advice, conducting landscape visual assessments (LVIAs), design reviews, preparing design briefs, and overseeing various tasks on multi-disciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a demanding caseload of complex development management consultations throughout the planning/consent process.
  • Evaluate and conduct landscape visual assessments (LVIAs) and develop landscape strategies, design guides, codes, and design reviews for projects of varying sizes and complexity.
  • Undertake complex specialist tasks as part of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Collect, analyze, and present complex data and evidence to recognized standards, reviewing outcomes, and assessing third-party compliance.
  • Lead the development and review of complex plans, policies, and guidance.
  • Drive the commercial development of our landscape services, bidding on high-value opportunities, and managing projects and contracts against budget, specification, and indicators.
  • Foster a professional, client-focused culture, maintaining high-level client relationships and staying commercially aware of industry trends.
  • Lead the development and delivery of promotional and learning material, training activities, and events.
  • Build a collaborative, high-performance culture, leading effective team working and improving team and personal competency.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educated to RQF level 6 (Bachelor's degree) with substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Authoritative technical and subject matter expertise in development management, planning policy, legislation, and enforcement standards and guidance.
  • Strong team management and people skills, with experience in employee performance and development.
  • Understanding of wellbeing and H&S, with the ability to implement safe working practices.
  • Good understanding of commercial practices, with negotiation and communication skills.
  • Track record of business development, including bid-winning and client relationship management.
  • Ability to lead specialist and multi-disciplinary project teams and manage multiple, large-scale, and complex projects.
  • Advanced use of common and specialist software packages such as GIS, AutoCAD, Creative Cloud, Sketchup, and other ICT tools.
