Job Title: Principle Building Safety Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Programme and Performance Manager to lead our efforts in ensuring building safety across our homes and neighborhoods. This pivotal role involves overseeing compliance across various critical areas such as fire safety, asbestos management, gas safety, electrical safety, water quality, and lifts. The successful candidate will support the strategic, operational, and financial management of our building safety services, ensuring statutory requirements are met and residents' safety remains paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of a robust building safety management regime, including compliance monitoring and performance reporting.
  • Coordinate the collection, management, and utilization of building safety data to enable timely actions and maintain compliance.
  • Support the introduction and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, reviewing and updating procedures as needed.
  • Develop an integrated approach to risk management across compliance areas, ensuring effective responses.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory frameworks affecting building safety and ensure staff are adequately trained and supported.
  • Advise relevant stakeholders of any breaches and plans to address them.
  • Champion the delivery of the Asset Management Strategy, ensuring alignment with the Kirklees Housing Standard.
  • Provide line management for building safety technical specialists and assigned managers.
  • Guide resident engagement initiatives regarding building safety strategies and plans.
  • Monitor and support the commissioning and procurement of suppliers, ensuring quality and value for money.
  • Oversee complaint investigations, implementing solutions to address service gaps or failings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to monitor and manage building safety works and improvements.

Requirements:

  • Relevant management experience in compliance and building safety, including knowledge of regulatory frameworks and best practices.
  • Degree-level qualification in Construction, Built Environment, or Project Management (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional qualifications such as MCIOB, MRICS, PMP preferred.
  • Proven track record in data management, performance reporting, and risk profiling.
  • Experience in developing organizational responses to regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines to achieve outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding legislation.
  • Flexibility, ability to manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in mentoring and empowering staff.
  • Political awareness and experience working with elected members desirable.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as needed.
