Principal Structural Engineer - £70k-£90k + Excellent benefits 2 days remote 3 days on-site

In addition, as you will need to work in our clients offices x3 days per week, you will need to be within 1 hour commute from your current place of residence.

What you'll be doing

Working for a leading Design and Build environment gives highly dynamic and challenging design opportunities. The role will allow you to see your designs come to life in a short space of time which can be highly rewarding, Working nationally the variety of design challenges that come from a business covering water frameworks is great for someone who thrives on unique challenges and exciting projects.

You will report directly to the Structures Lead and your role will provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. In order to ensure the above the successful Senior / Principal Structural Engineer must co-ordinate the design and produce Structural design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.

What you'll bring

With strong IT skills and a practical approach, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to lead a project team, manage complex workloads, technicians and engineers to achieve commercial viability of projects. As a multi-disciplinary consultancy they expect that you are familiar with other disciplines and as such are able to lead multi-disciplinary projects both at a technical and commercial level.

You will demonstrate strong communication and personal effectiveness skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels internally and particularly with external design team members and clients.

You will have a minimum of 10 years postgraduate/qualification experience in a UK based design consultancy and as such have experience over a wide variety of sectors but medium to high rise residential, education, logistics and commercial being key.

You will be strong technically with an emphasis on early-stage design concepts and be able to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external design teams from concept design through to construction.

Skills and attributes such as problem-solving, communication, personal organisation, team-working skills and the ability to work under pressure are also highly desired.

Chartered Engineer status is desirable, preferably IStructE but experience and knowledge are key.
