Are you a Category Manager who is knowledgeable about construction?

Every year the construction and estates team offer support locally, regionally, and nationally to thousands of clients across the NHS and wider public sector. Our dedication extends throughout the life of our client’s procurement process with support at each stage tailored to their needs. Acting as a trusted commercial 'go to' partner for our clients at all levels, the frameworks are well established and widely used by our clients.

You will be the leader with vision in the field, utilising your knowledge to work closely with internal and external partners make sure cohesive strategies in the delivery of portfolio framework agreements. Supported by an established and driven team, responsible for initiating and coordinating research, the Principal Category Manager will support the development of strategic sourcing strategies.

This position is predominantly home based, with onsite meetings being held once per month with national travel to supplier and client sites when required (estimated at once per week/4 times per month).

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with other government agencies and social services to identify areas for product/service standardisation across health and government related service settings e.g: home care, schools, prisons, defence etc
  • Leading multiple programmes and developing collaborative relationship management regimes with NHS and public sector suppliers, ensuring maximum return on investment on commercial spend across the whole of the public sector
  • Reviewing and negotiating draft contracts for category area
  • Actively managing the marketplace through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management
  • Pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets
  • Developing, maintaining, and leading professional relationships
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues to make sure compliance in the use of agreements

What you’ll bring:

  • Knowledge and experience of working within construction space
  • Understanding of market and procurement terminology
  • Team leadership/ management experience
  • Supplier relationship management with collaborator management experience
  • Knowledge of UK Public Contracts Regulations & New Procurement Act 2023
  • CIPS Level 4 or above

It would be great if you had:

  • Background within construction with knowledge of NEC and JCT
  • Construction related qualifications

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
