Job Title: Principal Ecologist

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000

Location: Dorset

We have a new opportunity for a Principal Ecologist to join a leading Chartered Surveyors firm based in Dorset. This is a unique position for an established ecologist to move outside of typical consultancy work, and be able to work with an interesting mix of other discpliplines around you, such as Planners and Development experts. The company have been in operation for well over a century, and have mutiple offices throuhgout the Southwest.

As a Principal Ecologist, some of your duties will include:

• Providing ecological input into a range of projects
• Conducting Phase 1 Hab surveys and any follow-on surveys such as Extended Phase 1 and Phase 2
• Lead for BNG (Biodiveristy Net Gain), habitat restoration and biodiversity plans
• Assisting with Natural England licencing
• Liasing with clients and working autonomously to deliver projects
• Providing support and mentorship to other members of the business
• Business development

To be considered for the Principal Ecologist positon, you will need:

• Driving licence and your own car
• Proven experience in an ecological consultancy
• Deep understanding of UK and EU wildlife legistlation
• Understanding of BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain)
• Ability to conduct Ecological Reports, such as BNG assessments, Phase 1 (& extended) Hab Phase 2, PEA, EcIA and EIAs.
• Ability to manage ecological projects
