An esteemed specialist engineering consultancy, known for its excellence in fire safety services within the built environment, is actively searching for a Principal/Associate Fire Engineer to lead their Fire Engineering Team in Blackpool. This consultancy has garnered acclaim for its innovative solutions, ensuring safety through strategic designs, analyses, audits, external wall safety assessments, risk evaluations, and building safety case services. The Principal/Associate Fire Engineer's Role

The appointed Principal/Associate Fire Engineer will be at the forefront of the Blackpool Fire Engineering Team, with key responsibilities including:

  • Overseeing financial aspects such as profit, loss, and debt management.
  • Driving the team's growth through strategic recruitment.
  • Promoting the professional development and wellbeing of team members.
  • Ensuring the high-quality technical delivery of the team's work.
  • Efficient management of administrative duties.

Primary Service Delivery

Dedicated to excellence, the Fire Engineering Division offers a wide range of services:

  • Development and design of fire safety strategies.
  • External wall fire safety assessments and remediation.
  • Comprehensive fire engineering analysis and assessments, including computational fluid dynamics and evacuation modelling.
  • Provision of expert advisory and witness services.
  • Conducting fire safety audits, peer reviews, and development of safety cases.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Leading business development efforts to secure new projects and maintain client relationships.
  • Providing technical supervision, mentorship, and coaching to less experienced staff.
  • Acting as a principal client contact for projects.
  • Contributing to the development of fee proposals and working across diverse sectors such as residential, commercial, and industrial.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Principal/Associate Fire Engineer position will demonstrate:

  • A Level 6 qualification (BEng or BSc) in a relevant field.
  • Mastery of fire standards like BS9999, BS9991, BS7974.
  • Deep understanding of UK fire safety legislation and a solid history of project management and technical delivery.
  • Membership in the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or an equivalent body, with aspirations towards chartered status.
  • Exceptional skills in business development and client relations.
  • A proactive and driven approach, with proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Experience in CFD modelling would be advantageous.
