Principal / Associate Fire Engineer
A leading specialist engineering consultancy, renowned for its pioneering approach in fire safety within the built environment, is actively seeking a Principal/Associate Fire Engineer to spearhead their North-West Fire Engineering Team in Liverpool. This consultancy is celebrated for delivering innovative designs, pragmatic solutions, and thorough advice across the entire range of fire engineering services. Their expertise encompasses strategy design and analysis, audits, external wall safety, risk assessments, and building safety case services, dedicated to ensuring a safer future through effective consultancy and collaborative design.
The Principal/Associate Fire Engineer's Role
The appointed Principal/Associate Fire Engineer will lead the North-West Fire Engineering Team, with key responsibilities including:
- Overseeing financial aspects, including profit, loss, and debt management.
- Leading growth initiatives, including driving necessary recruitment.
- Ensuring team members' wellbeing and professional development.
- Upholding high standards in technical delivery and work quality.
- Managing administrative tasks efficiently.
Primary Service Delivery
The Fire Engineering Division is committed to excellence, offering services like:
- Designing and developing fire safety strategies.
- Conducting external wall fire safety assessments and remediation.
- Performing fire engineering analysis and assessments, including computational fluid dynamics and evacuation modelling.
- Providing expert advisory, witness services, and fire safety audits, peer reviews, and safety case development.
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead business development activities to secure new projects and maintain client relationships.
- Offer technical supervision, guidance, and coaching to junior staff.
- Act as the primary client contact for projects.
- Assist in developing fee proposals.
- Work across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and industrial.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Principal/Associate Fire Engineer position will possess:
- A Level 6 qualification (BEng or BSc).
- Proficiency in fire standards such as BS9999, BS9991, BS7974.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK fire safety legislation.
- A proven track record in technical delivery and project management.
- Membership in the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalent.
- The ambition to achieve or progress towards chartered fire engineer status.
- Strong business development and client relationship skills.
- A proactive and ambitious approach to their work.
- Experience in team leadership and development.
- CFD modelling experience is advantageous.
