Behavioural Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Exeter
  • Salary: £90 - £95 per day (Potential permanent position after July 2024 with an annual salary of £18,000)
  • Job Type: Temporary (until July 2024)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Behavioural Teaching Assistant to make a significant difference in the lives of young learners with special educational needs (SEN). This role is based within a Pupil Referral Unit in Exeter, where we provide vital support to primary-aged students, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work 1:1 with pupils aged 5 to 11, providing tailored support to address their individual needs.
  • Foster a nurturing and structured environment to help students with behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist with academic tasks, social skills development, and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor and report on the pupil’s progress, adapting strategies as needed to optimise learning outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Relevant qualifications, training, or experience in education, SEN, or related fields are highly desirable.
