SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Grimsby
  • Salary: £84 - £90 per day
  • Job Type: 32.5 hours, temporary initially with the opportunity to be made permanent.

Reed Education are currently seeking a specialist TA to work in a large primary school in Grimsby. The teaching assistant will work on a 1:1 basis with a child in a Year 2 class who has additional needs and who can display challenging behaviour. 

The ideal candidate will have some experience working with children or adults with additional needs and who has experience of working with challenging behaviour. 

The role will begin on Tuesday 7th May and will continue until the end of the academic year. There is an opportunity for this to be extended or even made permanent into the new academic year for the right candidate.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities within a classroom setting.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment.
  • Encourage and assist children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Monitor and support the progress and well-being of the children.
  • Facilitate the inclusion of SEN pupils in all aspects of school life.
  • Adapt communication style to meet the needs of individual children.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent.
  • Team Teach training would be highly beneficial for this role, although not mandatory.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of the child's needs and strategies to meet these.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to tasks.
