Press Toolmaker
A global precision manufacturing business that specialises in Metal Pressings and Assemblies for the automotive industry is seeking an experienced Press Toolmaker to join their team.
This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of press tools, fixtures and gauges in line with production and customer requirements to support business objectives.
As a Press Toolmaker, your duties will include -
- The servicing, repair and breakdown call out for high volume transfer and progression dies for Presses from 200 to 1000 tonnes
- Tool diagnostics during breakdown investigations, determining the fastest repair to the accepted quality level
- Modifying tools as required by business or customer requests
- Commissioning, improvement and development of new tools to optimise quality and performance levels
- Recording all relevant data pertaining to tooling and record onto the Toolroom database
- Active involvement in improvement activities to support the achievement of departmental and company objectives
- Undertaking Planned Preventative Maintenance of production dies
- Full service and re-grinding of press tools for the metal forming sector
To be successful in the role of Press Toolmaker, the ideal candidate will -
- Be a time served / apprentice trained Toolmaker
- Have completed an ONC/HNC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Ideally have worked within an automotive or similar high-volume industry
- Have knowledge / understanding of key process techniques (progression and transfer)
- Have experience of setting and operating surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, turning and milling machines
- Be able to read and interpret technical tool drawings
