What will you be doing?

Our Finance and HR business areas need support to develop a range of custom reports that they can go on to evolve themselves. These reports will be developed in Power BI using data from Dynamics 365 F&O and various integrated systems.

This role sits within our ERP Programme and works as part of a multidisciplinary workstream team. It is primarily focussed on applying strong Power BI and data analytics skills to support delivery of data visualisation solutions that will form a key part of future Finance and HR processes.

You will work within the reporting architecture/framework already designed by our technology partner (typical Azure data services and Power BI). Supported by a wider team of SMEs, Data Engineers and Solution Architects, you will need to build an understanding of the data models involved, and the reporting requirements of the business. You will then design and implement of each of the reports defined and mentor business users to self-serve both using the reports and evolving them in the future.

Your main duties will be:

  • Working as part of a workstream team within the ERP Programme to analyse information and data related to business processes and reporting requirements.
  • Specifically, working closely with Solution Architects and Data Engineers to understand the business and technical context.
  • Ensuring business reporting requirements are met.
  • Mentoring business users to understand how to develop reports further and gain core Power BI skills.
  • Communicating effectively with other team members to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Transitioning solutions into production through contributing to effective documentation and handover to operational service teams.
  • In a typical working day, you will:
  • Work on understanding and documenting business requirements for reporting as determined by the work backlog.
  • Develop reports using Power BI
  • Attend project meetings as necessary throughout the week to discuss the detail of what you are working on with people in the team - for example work estimation, problem solving, peer review.
  • Be part of a supportive and productive team that is building solutions with modern technology within a critical programme that has an aggressive timescale.

The team is currently working remotely, but there is the technology in place to collaborate continuously to enable working closely with team members.

What we need from you (essential criteria):

General skills:

  • · You must be enthusiastic and motivated.
  • · You must be comfortable with the aggressive timetable of the programme of work.
  • · You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills including explanation of technical information to non-technical audiences verbally and through documentation.
  • · You will have a degree in a computer related field, or the equivalent demonstrable technical expertise and/or relevant technical qualifications, suitable for working in a complex environment.
  • · We require you to have strong and varied experience of designing and developing reports and dashboards to meet business requirements.
  • · You will be comfortable analysing requirements and clarifying these with business users to ensure there is a clear definition of the problem needing to be solved.
  • · You’ll have excellent analytical skills and an impeccable attention to detail. You must have the ability to make things clear and simple to understand through effective communication that is appropriate to the audience.

Technical skills:

  • You must have demonstrable experience of working on reporting projects that use:
