AL754: Polymer Extrusion Engineer

Location: Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire

Salary: Up to £36,000

Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday 7am-3.30pm


Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Polymer Extrusion Engineer which has risen through continued growth, expansion and demand in both customer base and orders. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the polymer extrusion process, ensuring product quality, and optimizing production efficiency. The Polymer Extrusion Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to process improvements.

Responsibilities:

1. Polymer Extrusion Process Management:
· Oversee and manage the polymer extrusion process from raw material preparation to final product extrusion.
· Monitor and control extrusion parameters to ensure product quality and consistency.
· Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to the extrusion process.

2. Quality Assurance:
· Implement and maintain quality control procedures for polymer extrusion.
· Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards.
· Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any non-conformities.

3. Process Optimization:
· Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
· Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to implement new technologies and methodologies.
· Analyse data and performance metrics to optimize extrusion parameters.

4. Equipment Maintenance:
· Oversee the maintenance of extrusion equipment to ensure proper functioning.
· Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
· Collaborate with the maintenance team for timely equipment repairs.

5. Collaboration and Communication:
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and quality assurance.
· Communicate effectively with team members to address challenges and implement solutions.
· Provide technical guidance and support to production staff.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in polymer extrusion processes, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer materials and their behaviour during extrusion.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to polymer extrusion.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
