Policy Specialist

12-month FTC       

The Opportunity

QBE International is looking for a policy expert to join a well-established and very friendly People/HR function. As we are looking to continue to enhance our policy offering and continue to support our evolving organisation, we’re looking for a Policy Specialist to join our People team for a period of 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to support on the delivery of several policy enhancements across our international markets (Europe and Asia), to modernise our policy offering and and position us as an Employer of Choice.

Your new role

  • Review the outputs of a market review across our European Operations markets covering People Policies.

  • Support on the development of a business case to seek approval for recommended changes.

  • Lead on the delivery of activities relating to the implementation, co-ordination, and maintenance of People policies across 20 countries.

  • Lead on assembling a complete inventory of People Policies for each market across EO (15 countries).

  • Lead on the implementation of uplifting Parental Leave minimum standards including a move to gender equal leave across all International locations by 2025,

  • Lead the kick off of the EU Pay Transparency Project with key stakeholders across the business.

  • Support on the design, development and review of employee communications and policy documents to assist employee understanding of People Policies

  • Analyse benchmark data and support the development of policy redesign and communications to deliver across key markets.

  • Collaborate with key partners across Finance, People Operations, Legal, Procurement and Technology to ensure that the programs are delivered as cost efficient and legally compliant.

  • Responsible for the international Policies intranet pages, updating and maintaining all Policy documents and creating engaging and value add content.

  • Develop and update internal documentation of all processes, ensure all governance documents are current.

About you

  • Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment.

  • Carries out analysis activity and shapes the solution.

  • Coordinates activity throughout a project and identifies interdependencies.

  • Produces key artefacts including requirements, impact analysis and documentation .

  • Some exposure to and awareness of People Policies

  • Strong collaboration across multiple SMEs such as legal, compliance and procurement

  • Project and change management skills.

  • Hands-on approach and willingness to be involved with tactical implementation.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills including data analysis and interpretation, demonstrating accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, autonomously and manage multiple competing priorities to deadline.
