Murray McIntosh is delighted to have partnered with the executive non-departmental public body, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) who are seeking a Policy and Government Relations Advisor to join their hard-working team in London, on the cusp of changes for vocational education.


This Policy and Government Relations Advisor position will focus on Further Education (FE) policies, both supporting and taking the lead on a broad range of issues, including Level 2, Level 3 and T-Level qualification reviews and development, and Traineeships. There will also be the chance to assist other areas such as net zero, digitalisation and future skills, and devolution.


In your first few months in this Policy and Government Relations Advisor role, you will have early ownership for as number of briefs as well as building a consensus with stakeholders and putting together agendas, reports and papers for a number of active committees, working groups and APPGs. In addition, you will:

  • Deliver the organisation's influencing objectives by influencing government policy to change to deliver objectives for the construction industry
  • Share clear impact reporting on planned activity and lessons learned from this work to support continuous improvement
  • Coordinate and support senior leadership team members as part of an integrated project-based approach with internal and external colleagues
  • Raise awareness of the organisation with key influencers


To apply for this Policy and Government Relations role, you will require the following:

  • Strong policy understanding, both technically and operationally, along with a good understanding of the UK political system from working with MPs, ministers and civil servants
  • Experience managing, implementing and evaluating proactive political engagement campaigns, including policy development
  • An interest in education and/or construction


The CITB operates a hybrid working environment from their office in the Department for Education, meeting as a team when required with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.


This is a full-time, permanent position and applicants must be eligible to work permanently in UK. Unfortunately, sponsorship cannot be offered.
